A Little Sparkle History

Hey there! I'm Jessica, and I'm the caffeinated, pastel-loving, font-collecting creator of the Sparkle Pop Planner. This little enterprise has been on quite a journey since 2013, which is hard to believe!

I started making planners in 2013 when I was still teaching middle school. I wanted a planner with individual boxes for each class period, but the only option I could find on the market was a beautiful, very popular, high-quality brand that just wasn't quite right. So I decided to make my own and had it printed locally at OfficeMax. Throughout the school year, several teacher colleagues saw it and asked if I'd make one for them...and that was the beginning.

A dozen planners quickly turned into fifty, then hundreds each year. I began working with a printer in New York to keep costs down, and for several years, I punched and hand-bound every planner.

Every.
Single.
Planner.

During that time, I decided to step out of the classroom and take a chance on pursuing my dream of becoming an author. Over the years, my writing career has grown, and I've also had the privilege of working with an incredible nonprofit in my community.

As my life has evolved, Sparkle Pop has evolved with it. Today, I use Lulu's print-on-demand service to offer quick production, allowing me to provide high-quality planners at a reasonable price while balancing everything else I love to do.

As an artist and creative, I believe in the power of feedback and continual growth. Over the years, I've asked teachers what they need and what they love. When someone suggested adding a monthly to-do list after each month, I thought, "That's a great idea!" and added it the following year. Teacher feedback has also inspired pages for professional development and many other thoughtful additions.

Every year, I love discovering new artwork from small businesses on Etsy, browsing the cutest fonts I can find, and experimenting with color palettes to create fresh new covers. My goal has always been to create a planner that's both beautiful and genuinely useful while balancing quality and affordability. I love great aesthetics, but more than anything, I want this planner to make your life a little easier—whether you're a teacher, student, or writer.
